Call for Artists: Sensing Summer
Art Agency Reframed, New York City
Sensing Summer is an open call for a small works group exhibition celebrating cross-sensory contemporary art. The exhibition, at Art Agency Reframed in NYC, invites artists to explore the many ways we experience summer through sight, smell, touch, sound, taste, memory, and imagination.
Summer is more than a season—it is a sensory landscape. The scent of sun-warmed grass, the texture of sand and water, the hum of insects at dusk, the taste of seasonal fruits, the feeling of heat on skin, and the memories these sensations evoke all shape our experience of the world. Sensing Summer seeks artworks that engage one or more sensory modalities and expand the possibilities of perception.
Artists working in all media are encouraged to apply, including painting, drawing, photography, textiles, sculpture, installation, sound art, olfactory art, artist books, mixed media, and interdisciplinary practices. We welcome works that investigate embodiment, memory, atmosphere, ecology, place, pleasure, nostalgia, and sensory experience.
This exhibition will feature small-scale works, creating an intimate environment in which visitors can engage closely with each artist's contribution. Selected works may be visual, tactile, auditory, olfactory, participatory, or combine multiple sensory approaches.
Submission Guidelines
Open to artists working in all media.
Maximum artwork size: 24 x 24 inches (or equivalent three-dimensional dimensions).
Artists may submit up to three works for consideration.
Include artist statement, artwork descriptions, dimensions, and images.
Works must be ready for exhibition.
Exhibition Theme
We encourage submissions that address:
Cross-sensory and multisensory experiences
Summer landscapes and atmospheres
Memory, nostalgia, and seasonal rituals
Scent, touch, taste, and sound as artistic materials
Environmental and ecological perspectives
Embodied perception and sensory exploration
Sensing Summer invites artists and audiences alike to slow down, engage the senses, and discover new ways of experiencing contemporary art.
