PROJECT: gebor(g)en
Artist: *walenta & frodl
Venue: Lichhof, Hamburg, Germany
Concept: The work "gebor(g)en" was created as part of the international group exhibition "Mother" in Hamburg, curated by Anne Vaupel. The work takes a mother's coat as its starting point. This symbolizes security, warmth, protection, birth, growing up, but also womanhood and motherhood.
Each position of the body suggests a different tactile state.
The coat acts as a transformable membrane: protection, weight, pressure, warmth and at the same time a structured landscape that invites the viewer to imagine its touch on the skin.
In a video, the cycle of becoming and passing away is also symbolized with an acoustic soundtrack emotionally reinforcing the visual imagery.
Idea, concept, styling, protagonist: Astrid*Walenta.
Photography, video: Maria Frodl.
The video and photos were first presented on September 27, 2024, as part of the two-week exhibition in the Lichthof in Hamburg.
